The Wexner Center for the Arts presents
Frederick Wiseman x 3
"Titicut Follies"
“Frederick Wiseman is a keen analyst of institutions…The method and substance of his analyses, though, is the proof of his genius. Wiseman…doesn’t so much film institutions as discover them.”—Richard Brody, New Yorker
Wiseman’s first film, Titicut Follies, is a still-startling look at life within the State Prison for the Criminally Insane at Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Banned for 25 years, its graphic report on the prison’s conditions is as shocking today as it was on its release nearly 50 years ago. (84 mins., 35mm)
