Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

The Ohio State Ethics Bowl Team

Members of the 2024-2025 team create the letters O-H-I-O with their arms while at the Regional Competition.

The Center for Ethics and Human Values sponsors Ohio State Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl teams. At their first IEB Regional Competition in Fall 2024, our teams finished in the top ten, taking sixth and eighth place.

Participating in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB) involves...

  • Investigating interdisciplinary ethical dilemmas drawn from real-world scenarios.
  • Preparing in-depth arguments and counter-arguments with teammates.
  • Learning from OSU Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Mastering fundamental ethical theories.
  • Engaging in a fun, supportive, and creative environment.
  • Traveling to one regional competition (in the fall).

For information about the structure and aims of IEB, please visit the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics IEB webpage.

If you are an undergraduate student interested in joining the OSU IEB team, please get in touch with one of our coaches, Sally Moore (moore.5045@osu.edu).

No prior experience in ethics or philosophy is expected or necessary. Teams work best with students from varying disciplines, identities, and backgrounds!
