Past Community Conversations

 

October 2022: Inclusion and Equity

Our fourth Community Conversation welcomed guest speaker Sigal Ben-Porath (Professor of Philosophy of Education, University of Pennsylvania) to discuss "On How Universities Can Foster Free Speech, Promote Inclusion, and Renew Democracy." She was then joined in conversation by Ohio State Provost Melissa Gilliam.

 

April 2022: Care and Compassion

For our third Community Conversation, guest speaker Joan Tronto (Professor Emerita of Political Science, University of Minnesota) joined us to discuss Care and Compassion: Shared Values for Meaningful Relationships Across Our Campuses.

 

November 2021: Diversity and Innovation

Our second Community Conversation focused on the topic Diversity and Innovation: Shared Values for the Civic Work of Connecting People and Ideas and featured guest speaker Meira Levinson (Professor of Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education, co-director of the Graduate Fellowship Program at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics and Director of the Democratic Knowledge Project).

 

March 2021: Excellence and Impact

Our first Community Conversation featured Harry Brighouse (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and Winston Thompson (The Ohio State University) speaking on the topic of "Excellence and Impact: Shared Values for a 21st Century Land-Grant University".
