Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Join us at Mershon Auditorium for the inaugural Education for Citizenship address, which will welcome new Ohio State students and other members of the university community to the new academic year. Hosted by Executive Vice President and Provost Melissa Gilliam, the Education for Citizenship address will inspire our Ohio State community to reflect on the importance of civil discourse and our Shared Values in a diverse world.

This year's featured faculty speaker is Winston C. Thompson, associate professor in the Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education and Human Ecology. Dr. Thompson is an internationally recognized philosopher of education concerned with social, political and ethical issues related to justice and education. He also coordinates the COMPAS (Conversations on Morality, Politics and Society) program in Ohio State's Center for Ethics and Human Values, where he is also a member of the Steering Committee.

Dr. Thompson's presentation will be followed by light refreshments from Graeter’s Ice Cream in the lobby.
