CEHV Sponsors OSU’s First Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Team

The Center for Ethics and Human Values is pleased to sponsor OSU’s first Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Team.

For interested students, an upcoming interest meeting will be held on Thursday, February 29, from 5:30 - 6:30 PM in University Hall, Room 386B. For those unable to attend, there will be a virtual interest meeting in the coming weeks.

By joining the 2024 Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB) team, students can expect to:

  • Investigate interdisciplinary ethics dilemmas drawn from real-world scenarios.
  • Prepare teammates’ in-depth arguments and counter-arguments
  • Learn from OSU Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Master fundamental ethical theories.
  • Engage in a fun, supportive, and creative environment.
  • Travel to one debate competition in the region (next Fall)

No prior experience in ethics or philosophy is expected or necessary. Teams work best with students from varying disciplines, identities, and backgrounds!

For information about the structure and aims of IEB, please visit the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics IEB webpage.

If you are an undergraduate student interested in joining the OSU IEB team or attending the virtual information session, please get in touch with our Graduate Research Associate, Sally Moore (moore.5045@osu.edu).
