Please join us in celebrating CEHV’s incoming director, Dr. Winston C. Thompson. Thompson, an internationally renowned philosopher of education concerned with social, political, and ethical issues related to justice and education, is the William H. and Laceryjette V. Casto Professor of Interprofessional Education in the College of Education and Human Ecology and a Professor of Philosophy (by courtesy).

Thompson’s journey with CEHV began in 2018 when he joined our steering committee soon after being hired at Ohio State. In the years since then, he has coordinated our COMPAS program, mentored others through our Ethics Circle program, and offered crucial leadership and insights as we offered ethics and civil discourse programming in an ever-changing landscape. His collaborative approach and commitment to educational dialogue have been instrumental in the center’s evolving areas of focused expertise.

"I'm deeply honored to build upon CEHV's remarkable foundation of fostering ethical reasoning across our communities," Thompson shared. "In our increasingly complex world, the need for thoughtful, inclusive dialogue about our most pressing ethical challenges has never been greater. I'm excited to work alongside our immensely talented team and community partners to expand access to these vital conversations, ensuring that diverse reasonable perspectives are heard and that ethical reflection becomes a cornerstone of how we navigate our shared future. Together, we can create spaces where difficult questions lead to deeper understanding and positive actions in our world."

Under Thompson’s leadership, we look forward to building on CEHV’s long history of success in fostering rigorous and respectful discussions on the most important ethical challenges, as well as to exploring new possibilities for CEHV’s expansion in the local and national arenas.
