In August, Civil Discourse for Citizenship Director Kathryn Joyce and CEHV Associate Director Aaron Yarmel traveled to Yale University to lead two workshops on civil discourse. 

These sessions focused on CEHV's 4Cs of Civil Discourse framework — be Curious, be Charitable, be Conscientious, and be Constructive. The first workshop introduced the 4Cs to faculty and staff as part of Yale's Cultivating Conversation initiative, a campus-wide effort to help its community engage constructively across differences and strengthen a culture of open exchange. The second workshop, delivered to student leaders, presented the 4Cs as a practical framework for navigating disagreement. Through these workshops, over 100 students, faculty, and staff learned strategies they can apply in campus organizations, classrooms, and everyday conversations to foster more respectful and productive dialogue within their communities.

Drs. Joyce and Yarmel have co-facilitated more than 100 workshops on dialogue and civil discourse for OSU students, faculty, and staff, and their trip to New Haven adds to a growing list of workshops beyond OSU.
