2026 COMPAS Program Announcement
Since its inception in 2011, the Center for Ethics and Human Values' Conversations on Morality, Politics, and Society (COMPAS) program has provided our campus community with the opportunity to hear from experts within and beyond OSU about the complex ethical challenges facing our society. Having tackled issues as diverse as immigration, sustainability, education, and markets through in-person discussions and events, this year marks a new chapter for COMPAS as the program makes a digital transition both in form and content.
The 2026 COMPAS Program will bring the same meaningful conversations to our campus community in the form of a podcast on the theme of "Humanity in the Age of AI." This podcast will, over the coming year, bring a wide range of voices into conversation to think with clarity, curiosity, and rigor about the puzzles of how humans can flourish alongside AI.
The first episode, out now on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, brings together Nanna Inie, a Lecturer at the University of Washington and an Assistant Professor at the Center for Computing Education Research at the University of Copenhagen, and Webb Keane, the George Herbert Mead Collegiate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, for a conversation with CEHV Associate Director Aaron Yarmel about how we should talk to and about AI.
