Black Women and Girls' Lives Matter

The 2016 Hiphop Literacies Conference, Black Women and Girl’s Lives Matter, will illuminate issues in the struggle to engender the fight for racial justice.

The conference aims to ensure that the needs of black and brown girls and women are fully addressed as they continue the fight to dismantle institutional racism and promote healing for collective empowerment of black and brown communities.

Increasing the opportunities for women and girls of color by breaking down the structural barriers that impede success is important to our advancement as a nation. It isn’t just the responsibility of government to institute initiatives to balance the scales or organizations committed to social justice to fight for the disadvantaged. It is all of our responsibilities.

The Hip-hop Literacies Conference is a way to discuss important issues to make real change today so tomorrow’s women and girls of color do not face the same injustices of the past.
