Xenotransplantation, the use of non-human cells, tissues, or organs for human medical treatment, raises significant ethical questions that merit thoughtful exploration. Our distinguished panel will address several key aspects of this emerging field, including: How should we think about the development of this novel medical intervention? Are there distinctive ethical issues that arise with xenotransplantation that change the informed consent process to research?  Does public perception of this sort of intervention change how we should understand the legitimacy of its practical applications? This event offers an opportunity for meaningful discourse on the intersection of medical innovation and ethical responsibility, contributing to the ongoing dialogue that shapes the future of healthcare.Featuring Panelists: Luz Padilla, MD, MSPH (Associate Professor of Epidemiology & Vice Chair of IRB, University of Alabama at Birmingham; Director of Surgical Research, Joseph S. Bruno Pediatric Heart Center) Daniel J. Hurst, PhD (Associate Professor & Director of Medical Professionalism, Ethics, & Humanities, Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine). Martin Fitzgerald, PhD (Assistant Professor in Bioethics, OSU) Register Here Virtually on Zoom Center for Ethics and Human Values cehv@osu.edu America/New_York public
