"Aristotle at the Movies: Learning about Virtue Ethics through Cinema"

 

In the framework of the Discovery theme “From Homer to the Qu'ran," Professor Edith Hall will give the opening lecture on “Aristotle at the Cinema."  Professor Hall, who has a doctorate from Oxford and an Honorary Degree from the University of Athens, teaches in the Classics Department and Center for Hellenic Studies at King’s College, London.  She is a Hellenist who has worked and published on a wide variety of topics in classical literature and its continuing impact in the modern world.  Most recently, she has won a grant from the British Arts and Humanities Research Council as Leadership Fellow in a project on “Teaching Classical Civilization: Recording the Past and Fostering the Future.”
