Prior to the start of the autumn semester, CEHV will host a workshop for instructors and program directors at Ohio State as they finalize their syllabi and student programming. Utilizing CEHV resources from CEHV's "Civil Discourse for Citizenship" program, our team will offer tips for preparing syllabi and facilitating open and respectful class discussion.We look forward to seeing you!  Register HERE.  Other information as you plan ahead: Through workshops, trainings, and resources for your syllabus, CEHV is here to help provide confidence--grounded in our proven framework for and expertise in civil discourse--as the new semester begins. The 4Cs of Civil DiscourseThe University has put forward intellectual diversity syllabus language. We encourage all instructors also to include a link to the "4Cs" of civil discourse --  Be Curious, Be Charitable, Be Conscientious, and Be Constructive -- in their syllabi as a resource for students and to help set expectations for classroom discussion. Teaching Endorsement ProgramInstructors and student program directors interested in a more sustained exploration of teaching strategies are encourage to sign up for our "Ethical Disagreement and Civil Discourse" teaching endorsement program, led by CEHV through the Drake Institute. This training meets monthly over the course of the semester. In Spring 2025, 28 instructors and program directors completed the program.Tailored WorkshopsOur team also stands ready to work with colleges, departments, and offices to provide focused civil discourse workshops and dialogue facilitations for units across campus.
