CEHV's Aaron Yarmel Interviews Maughn Rollins Gregory and Megan Jane Laverty about their New Book, "Gareth B. Matthews, The Child's Philosopher"
CEHV Associate Director, Aaron Yarmel, interviewed Megan Jane Laverty (Associate Professor of Philosophy and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University) and Maughn Rollins Gregory (Professor of Educational Foundations at Montclair State University) about their new book, Gareth B. Matthews, the Child's Philosopher. The interview was conducted for the Society for the History of Children and Youth, and it covers a range of topics: critiques of Piaget's stage theory of development, Matthews's distinct techniques for facilitating philosophical inquiries with children, the value, for both children and adults, of cross-generational philosophy, and many more.
