CEHV is very pleased to announce the first cohort of instructors to complete our new “Ethical Disagreement and Civil Discourse” teaching endorsement program, offered in partnership with the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning:
Bürge Abiral | Anthropology and Middle East Studies Center |
Jeremy Bruskotter | School of Environment and Natural Resources |
Kevin Freeman | College of Arts and Sciences Pre-Law Services |
Ralph Martins | School of Communications |
May Mergenthaler | Germanic Languages and Literatures |
Dawne Stefanik | College of Dentistry |
Merijn van der Heijden | Urban Arts Space and Hopkins Gallery |
These instructors participated in four active-learning workshops on civil discourse, dialogue facilitation, and diagnosing ethical disagreements, in addition to completing CEHV’s online course entitled “The 4Cs: Virtues of Civil Discourse,” available at https://go.osu.edu/CEHV_4Cs .
The workshops were guided by CEHV’s Piers Turner, Kathryn Joyce, and Aaron Yarmel. We are grateful for the commitment, thoughtfulness, and creativity that the participants put into their efforts to support constructive discussion in the classroom and other spaces.
Applications for next Spring will open in Autumn 2024.
