Instructors Complete "Ethical Disagreement and Civil Discourse" Teaching Endorsement Program

CEHV is very pleased to announce the second cohort of instructors and other leaders to complete our “Ethical Disagreement and Civil Discourse” teaching endorsement program, offered in partnership with the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.
This spring, 28 instructors and student program directors fully completed the program -- coming from all corners of Ohio State University, including eight of Ohio State's fifteen colleges:
- College of Arts and Sciences
- College of Education and Human Ecology
- College of Engineering
- College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences
- College of Pharmacy
- College of Social Work
- Fisher College of Business
- John Glenn College of Public Affairs
- Office of International Affairs
- Office of Undergraduate Education
- Wexner Medical Center - The James
Together, they participated in four monthly workshops focused on fostering civil discourse and navigating ethical disagreements, in addition to completing CEHV’s online course entitled “The 4Cs: Virtues of Civil Discourse,” available at https://go.osu.edu/CEHV_4Cs .
The workshops were guided by CEHV’s Piers Turner, Kathryn Joyce, and Aaron Yarmel. We are grateful for the commitment, thoughtfulness, and creativity that the participants put into their efforts to support constructive discussion in the classroom and other spaces.
This program is one of nine offerings in CEHV's Civil Discourse for Citizenship program, which provides students and others repeated opportunities to learn about, and practice, civil discourse.
Applications for next Spring will open in Autumn 2025.
