New OSU Ethics Bowl Teams Place in Top Ten at Regional Competition
The Center for Ethics and Human Values recently began sponsoring the first ever Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB) teams at The Ohio State University. On November 16, two OSU teams participated in the Central States Regional Competition where they competed with twenty-two other teams from sixteen universities. Despite being one of only two universities new to IEB, both OSU teams finished in the top ten, outperforming many well-established teams. OSU Team 2 took sixth place with 301 out of 360 possible points while OSU Team 1 took eighth place with 298 points.
The Association for Practical and Professional Ethics began hosting Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl competitions in 1997. Now, over 150 teams compete annually in twelve Regional Competitions. The top 36 teams from these competitions advance to the National Competition.
The top three teams at each IEB Regional Competition qualify for the National Competition. The OSU Teams came close to qualifying, finishing just three points (Team 2) and six points (Team 1) below the third-place finisher.
CEHV congratulates the following students for an outstanding performance at their first ever IEB competition:
