PPE Students Attend Civil Discourse Event

On February 13, 2025, eleven students from the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Society and Kathryn Joyce, director of CEHV's Civil Discourse for Citizenship program, attended a Discussion hosted by the New Albany Center for Civil Discourse and Debate.  Linsey Davis from ABC News moderated a discussion on contemporary political issues with former U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill (D, MO) and Ben Sasse (R, NE). Despite their party affiliations and contrasting perspectives on the new administration, McCaskill and Sasse were able to find common ground on several issues including the need to improve efficiency in Congress, money in politics, and concerns about checks and balances in the federal government. In the spirit of civil discourse, this event aims to promote community dialogue by bringing together thought leaders with different perspectives to discuss important issues. CEHV thanks the Barbara W. & Philip R. Derrow Family Foundation, founders of the New Albany Center for Civil Discourse and Debate, for supporting our participation in this inspiring, sold-out event.
