CEHV's Eric MacGilvray Honored for Distinguished Faculty Service

This spring semester, Ohio State's Office of Academic Affairs awarded one of three President and Provost’s Awards for Distinguished Faculty Service to CEHV Steering Committee member Eric MacGilvray (Associate Professor of Political Science). The award recognizes faculty who make positive and demonstrable contributions to Ohio State through activities such as the development of university programs.

MacGilvray was chosen as a recipient of this year's Distinguished Faculty Service Award in part due to his numerous contributions to CEHV programming, including serving as the COMPAS Coordinator for three consecutive COMPAS programs -- What is America? (2019-20), COVID-19 (2020-21), and Markets and the Open Society (2021-22) -- and, with CEHV Director Piers Turner, launching CEHV's new Civil Discourse Initiative and training the first cohort of undergraduate Civil Discourse Fellows.

MacGilvray also chairs the Steering Committee for the undergraduate Philosophy, Politics, and Economics major, and he has meanwhile completed a book, Liberal Freedom, to be published later this year by Cambridge University Press.
